If you like your music honest, raw and full of emotion then look no further than Casey Lowry, the singer-songwriter making waves for his unfiltered approach to his craft. Casey’s start in music came when he wrote his first song at the age of 14. Titled “Trampoline”, it was released in 2017 and can be credited for kick-starting his career by gaining more than half a million streams and landing him a spot on radio playlists.
His debut EP, Me & You, followed and marked him out as a musician whose strength lies in his candid storytelling and beautiful melodies. His latest release epitomises this. “Roam is a song about freedom,” Casey says. “I wrote this song to encourage others to be bold enough to take the steps they need to in order to find their own freedom.” We get to know the free-spirited musician with the world at his feet a little better below.
It’s always weird when people know a lot about you, but you know nothing about them. I think it comes with the territory of being a songwriter though.
The tour I did with Jack & Jack has inspired me massively. I’ve been seeing different cities every day, different cultures and loads of different people.
It was Two Door Cinema Club’s Tourist History. There are so many guitars, so many feelings, but at the same time every song on it is a banger.
All of my music tends to have a happy connotation to it. I just really want people to be happy during the time that they’re listening to the music and use it as a means of escape.
Billie Eilish for sure, her voice is heavenly.
I’m about to drop two huge songs, literally my favourite ones ever. Hopefully this roll continues and it’ll just be banger after banger.
